Weingarten Rights – Your Right to Union Representation

Weingarten Rights refer to your legal right as a unionized faculty member to union representation at meetings with the Fordham administration – whether the chair of your department or a Fordham dean or administrator – that you believe could lead to discipline or discharge. That may mean that you have to stop a meeting that has already begun and/or (re)schedule the meeting in consultation with an FFU steward (contact fordhamfacultyunited@gmail.com). Legally there can be no repercussions for exercising this right, which we encourage you to cite verbatim:

WEINGARTEN RIGHTS

If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative, officer, or steward be present at this meeting.  Without representation, I choose not to answer questions.
