Full-time benefits
Benefits for full-time FFU faculty (lecturers and clinical professors), including retirement and health care, are the same benefits as those negotiated by Fordham’s Faculty Senate (tenure-track and tenured faculty). Article 19 of our CBA states that “Full-Time Bargaining will continue to be eligible for benefits on the same terms and conditions as tenured and tenure-track faculty employed by the University as they may be amended or eliminated by the University from time to time.” If you have questions about FT benefits, contact FFU and Fordham Human Resources.
Part-time (adjunct) benefits
Part-time faculty are now eligible for health and transportation benefits thanks to our last two CBAs.
Adjunct Health Benefit : Flexible Spending Account (FSA) / Wex
In 2022, we successfully negotiated a health benefit for part-time faculty: FSAs. These flexible spending accounts can be used for a wide variety of health-related expenses. All part-time faculty who have taught in the previous calendar year at Fordham, not including summer, and are still teaching at Fordham are eligible. This benefit is managed through Wex, which issues a FSA-specific Wex credit card to FFU part-time faculty. The amount part-time faculty receive is based on the number of courses you have taught in the previous calendar year – see below. If you have not received your Wex card or have questions about it, please contact FFU and Fordham Human Resources.
1 course (in the previous calendar year) = $300
2 courses = $425
3 courses = $500
4 courses = $500
Unfortunately, for healthcare, Fordham only offers what is for most faculty a prohibitively expensive “Bronze” plan. See the Fordham benefits page for information about that plan.
Adjunct parking/transportation benefit
In the most recent round of CBA negotiations, we won two new benefits for adjuncts. 1) a parking benefit, and 2) a transportation benefit.
1) PARKING: Part-time faculty receive a 15% offset on daily parking rates AND on the parking coupon booklet.
2) COMMUTING: Part-time faculty are now also eligible to enroll in the pre-tax Wex transportation benefit.
